The Best AI Visibility Tools in 2026, Compared Honestly

Ten AI visibility tools compared on method, engines, pricing unit, raw answers and guidance, with dated prices, real limits and a pick for each kind of team.

There is no single best AI visibility tool. The right one depends on your budget, the AI engines you need, and whether you want to read the raw answers behind each number.

Disclosure: CitePrism wrote this post, and CitePrism is one of the ten tools in it. Every fact about another tool comes from that vendor’s own pages or a named, dated source. Every tool gets a “where it wins” section, and our own section lists our limits.

Prices last checked 1 October 2026 unless a different date is shown. They change often; the vendor’s page is the source of truth.

What these tools do

AI visibility tools are also sold as generative engine optimization (GEO) or answer engine optimization (AEO) tools. Each one asks AI engines a fixed set of prompts on a schedule and counts how often each brand appears in the answers. This is prompt sampling. The tools differ in how they get the answers, which engines they cover, how the price scales, and what they tell you to do next.

How we compared

  1. Collection method, and what is documented. Does the tool ask the model’s API, or read the answer the consumer product shows? Where the vendor’s pages do not say, we say so and do not guess.
  2. Engines, and which are add-ons. The base price and the paid extras are different things.
  3. Pricing model, and its unit. Most tools meter prompts. Some meter credits or checks, where one prompt on one engine uses one unit.
  4. Access to raw answers. Pricing pages rarely say. In a demo, ask the vendor to trace one metric to its answers.
  5. Guidance. Does the tool tell you what to change, or only report?
  6. Who it is for. Enterprise buyers, agencies, small teams and SEO suite users need different things.

The summary table

Entry prices are list prices, last checked 1 October 2026. Peec AI’s figures come from third-party reviews, because its own pricing page did not show prices on our check.

Profound

What it is. An enterprise AI visibility platform. On 15 September 2026 it announced a $180M Series D at a $1.8B valuation and claimed more than 1,000 enterprise brands as customers (Profound newsroom).

Where it wins. Enterprise includes SSO and SAML, SOC 2, an API, CSV and JSON export, and full history. It covers up to nine engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search. It also offers ChatGPT Shopping, Agent Analytics, Prompt Volumes and an agent called AI Marketer. The free trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with unlimited seats.

Limits. The official pricing page shows no paid self-serve plan and no dollar amount. After the trial, Enterprise needs a demo and a quote. The trial has no data history, exports or API. The earlier $99 Starter and $399 Growth plans no longer appear.

Price. Trial free, Enterprise custom (pricing page, last checked 1 October 2026). Compare: CitePrism vs Profound.

Peec AI

What it is. A self-serve tracker. Its docs say: “Peec AI uses browser automation to interact with AI platforms through their web interfaces” (docs.peec.ai, last checked 1 October 2026).

Where it wins. It states its method in writing. Its self-serve engine pool includes Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and Copilot, and seats are unlimited (Geoptie review, 24 June 2026).

Limits. Each self-serve plan includes 3 engines, chosen from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Gemini and Grok. Claude is on Enterprise only (Geoptie, 24 June 2026). Extra engines cost more; we could not confirm the current add-on prices.

Price. Starter $95 a month (about €89) for 50 prompts, Pro $245 for 150, Advanced $495 for 350, Enterprise custom. These figures are reported by Trakkr (a competitor, verified 1 September 2026) and Geoptie (24 June 2026). Peec’s pricing page showed plan names but no prices on 1 October 2026. Compare: CitePrism vs Peec.

Otterly.AI

What it is. A self-serve tracker with fully public prices.

Where it wins. At $29, Lite ties CitePrism Pro as the lowest published paid plan in this list that includes tracking. Rankscale Essentials costs $20 but includes no credits. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot are on every plan. Lite has unlimited seats. Standard and Premium add API and MCP access.

Limits. Lite includes 15 prompts. Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons. Claude costs $29 a month on Lite, $109 on Standard and $439 on Premium. Lite with all seven engines costs $76 a month ($29 + $9 + $9 + $29). The pricing FAQ does not say whether answers come from APIs or the real interfaces.

Price. Lite $29 a month ($25 billed yearly), Standard $189 for 100 prompts, Premium $489 for 400 (pricing page, last checked 1 October 2026). Compare: CitePrism vs Otterly.

AthenaHQ

What it is. A Y Combinator (Winter 2025) company. The CEO, Andrew Yan, was a product manager on Google Search (YC profile, last checked 1 October 2026).

Where it wins. The free plan covers 5 models: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. It has an action layer: an Action Center for GEO tasks, a content optimization agent on Starter, and a Shopify integration to publish content. Starter names 11 models, adding AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. Enterprise adds SSO, audit logs and SOC 2 Type 2.

Limits. The price jumps from $0 to $295 a month, with no plan between. One credit is one AI response. Our arithmetic: 3,600 credits ÷ 11 models ÷ 30 days = 10.9, so Starter runs fewer than 11 prompts a day on every model. The pricing page and docs do not state the collection method or the default run frequency. API access is a paid add-on on Starter.

Price. Essential free (300 credits), Starter $295 a month (3,600 credits), Enterprise custom (pricing page, last checked 1 October 2026). Compare: CitePrism vs AthenaHQ.

Trakkr

What it is. A London tool founded in 2025. Its about page calls it “independent and bootstrapped”.

Where it wins. The price is flat: every plan tracks all 8 models daily, “with no per-model fee and no credit metering” (FAQ). It states its method plainly: “Trakkr sends each tracked prompt to the model providers’ own APIs and records what comes back”. It reads Google AI Overviews from live Google results. There are no API keys to set up. Scale gives agencies 10 brands, white-label client portals and a REST API.

Limits. Growth and Scale cap prompts at 50 per brand. More needs Enterprise, from $1,000 a month billed yearly. It does not cover Google AI Mode or Copilot. There is no free plan, and the 14-day trial needs a card. Seven of its eight models come from APIs, so it records API replies, not what the consumer apps show. The same is true of any API engine, ours included.

Price. Growth $100 a month ($1,000 a year), Scale $500 a month (pricing page, last checked 1 October 2026). Compare: CitePrism vs Trakkr.

Rankscale

What it is. Rankscale GmbH, from Vienna, launched in July 2025 (facts page).

Where it wins. Its facts page lists 7 “AI search GUIs” (AI Overview, AI Mode, Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok Chat, Copilot) apart from its “model engines”. We read that as capture of 7 consumer interfaces plus API models. That is our reading. If it is right, Rankscale is the lowest-priced tool in this list that reads all seven of those consumer interfaces, Grok included. You set the cadence per prompt, from hourly to monthly, and unused credits roll over. Pro includes 10 brand dashboards. It shows query fan-out, the searches an engine runs behind an answer.

Limits. A query uses “typically 0.25” credits, so some cost more. Essentials includes no credits and the top-up price is not published, so the real tracking entry is Pro. Our arithmetic: 1,200 credits ÷ 0.25 = 4,800 queries a month. That covers 50 prompts on 3 engines daily (4,500 queries), or about 22 prompts on 7 engines daily. Claude appears only as an API model.

Price. Essentials $20 a month, Pro $99 (1,200 credits), Pro+ $229, Growth $385, Enterprise $780, Custom by quote (pricing page, shown in USD, last checked 1 October 2026). Compare: CitePrism vs Rankscale.

HubSpot AEO

What it is. HubSpot’s AI visibility product, sold as a standalone plan and still in beta.

Where it wins. Daily runs at a low price: 25 prompts a day, with a free trial.

Limits. It covers 3 engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Prompt add-ons exist, but the offer page does not state their price.

Price. $50 a month, or $45 a month billed yearly (offer page, last checked 1 October 2026).

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Where it wins. It suits teams that already work in Semrush. Prompts scale in blocks of 50.

Limits. The entry plan includes 25 prompts. Each extra 50 prompts costs $60 a month, and each extra domain $99. The help page names ChatGPT and Google AI Mode but does not list every engine.

Price. $99 a month (Semrush KB, last checked 1 October 2026).

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Where it wins. Volume is cheap: $50 a month buys 2,500 checks, $100 buys 7,000 and $250 buys 25,000. It covers Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, with Claude on higher tiers.

Limits. One check is one prompt on one platform in one location, so the allowance divides by engines, locations and days. Our arithmetic: 2,500 checks ÷ 30 days ÷ 6 platforms = 13.9, so about 13 full prompts a day on all six. Our check did not confirm whether a base Ahrefs plan is still required.

Price. Custom prompts from $50 a month; Brand Radar AI from $199 a month (pricing, Brand Radar, last checked 1 October 2026).

CitePrism

What it is. The tool we build. It samples ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot on a schedule, stores every raw answer, and reports visibility rate, share of voice, average rank, first-mention rate and citation share.

Where it wins. Every chart clicks through to the stored raw answers, and rates grey out below 10 answers. All seven engines are on every plan, with no engine add-ons. You choose who pays the providers: Free runs on your own keys, at about $0.046 per prompt across the four API engines on default models (measured August 2026). Gaps lists prompts where a rival is named and you are not. Queries shows the searches an engine reports, where the engine exposes them. Opportunities writes a weekly action list.

Limits. It is a young product with a short track record. It has no enterprise SSO, no managed onboarding and no white-label reports. It has no prompt-volume data, so it cannot tell you how often people ask a prompt. Free needs your own model keys, plus a key for the engines that have no API, which is more setup. Free holds 1 brand and 25 prompts. Pro holds 5 brands, 100 prompts and 25 competitors per brand. More needs Custom. It does not cover Grok, DeepSeek or Meta AI.

Price. Free on your keys. Pro $29 a month or $299 a year, on our keys with daily usage included. Custom by written agreement. See the pricing page and the GEO tool page.

How to choose

  • Enterprise with procurement. You need SSO, security review and a contract. Look at Profound first. AthenaHQ Enterprise and Trakkr Enterprise also list SSO.
  • Agency. Trakkr Scale has 10 brands and white-label portals for $500 a month. Rankscale Pro has 10 brand dashboards, and Growth adds white-label. CitePrism Pro has 5 brands and no white-label, so it fits a small agency that writes its own reports. See AI visibility for agencies.
  • Small team that wants one flat price. Trakkr Growth is the simplest flat price on many models. Otterly Lite and HubSpot AEO cost less, with fewer prompts or engines. CitePrism Pro is $29 for all seven engines, with daily usage included.
  • Team already paying for an SEO suite. Start with the Semrush toolkit or Ahrefs Brand Radar. Check the prompt cap and the per-check math before you scale.
  • Team that wants to audit the raw answers and control cost. CitePrism shows the answer behind every number and lets you pay the providers directly. Peec AI and Trakkr also state their collection method in writing.

What none of these tools can do

See real user conversations. Chats with ChatGPT and the others are private. Every tool here asks its own prompts and reports what came back. That is a sample, not a view of real users. We explain the mechanism in what AI visibility tools actually measure.

Guarantee a mention. A tool measures. It does not decide what an engine says, and no vendor can promise that an engine will name you. We cover what the numbers can and cannot prove in do AI visibility tools work.

FAQ

What is the best AI visibility tool for a small business?

It depends on your prompt count and the engines your buyers use. Otterly Lite ($29 a month, 15 prompts) and HubSpot AEO ($50 a month, 25 prompts) are low-cost managed starts. Trakkr Growth ($100 a month, 50 prompts, 8 models) is a flat price on more models. CitePrism Free costs only what the providers charge, and Pro is $29 a month. Prices last checked 1 October 2026.

Which AI visibility tools cover Google AI Overviews?

At the time of writing: Profound, Peec AI (as one of 3 chosen engines), Otterly.AI, AthenaHQ, Trakkr, Rankscale, Ahrefs Brand Radar and CitePrism. HubSpot AEO lists ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini only. The Semrush help page does not give a full engine list. Confirm on each vendor’s page, because coverage changes often.

Are GEO tools and AEO tools different from AI visibility tools?

No. They are three names for one category. Each samples AI answers with a fixed prompt set and reports how often a brand appears.

Why do Peec AI’s prices come from third parties?

Peec’s official pricing page showed plan names but no prices on our check on 1 October 2026. The figures here come from two dated reviews, and one is from Trakkr, a competitor. Confirm the current price with Peec before you buy.
